The union representing Time Inc. news employees has won a five-year contract with a 14% raise covering the length of the agreement, but ceded up to 50 full-time newsroom jobs for outsourcing. So reports The New York Post.
An earlier contract had called for 60 full-time jobs to be outsourced. The deal also allows Time Inc. to outsource all 80 temporary union news guild jobs.
“The contract provides Time Inc. with the operational flexibility necessary to succeed in today’s transformative media environment,” says Greg Giangrande, Time Inc.’s executive vice president and chief human resources officer.
