Indian media broadcaster Star India last month decided to give the partners of its lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender workers the same benefits it provides to the partners of its straight employees. So reports The New Indian Express.
Benefits that are now provided include maternity/paternity, IVF, surrogacy and adoption. This move comes after the Supreme Court last year ended laws that criminalized homosexuality. Separately, a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) job fair held last month was hailed as the first event of its kind in India.
