Do Women Have Tougher Time Snagging NCAA Athletic Director Jobs?

An NCAA report recently showed that only 37 of the 313 athletic directors in Division I sports are women. So reports The New York Times.

The University of Texas missed a great opportunity to help close that gap by tapping Chris Plonsky, the athletic director for women's sports with a long history of administrative experience, to fill its recent opening. Instead they chose Mike Perrin, a personal injury lawyer and former player, to serve as the interim.

The article also notes that only three of 5 Big Five conferences schools have female athletic directors. Some speculate woman have a harder uphill battle in sports than in other hiring fields.
