China’s Gender Pay Gap Shrinks

The gender pay gap in China has dropped for the first time in over the last three years with the monthly pay of women in urban areas up 7.7% from 2018 to 2019. So reports China Daily.

While women still make 81.6% of what men earn, the shrinkage in the gender pay gap is attributable to the increasing number of well-paid women in the workforce, China News reports, citing a report from recruitment platform Boss Zhipin.

Women also held 25.4% of director-roles, up 0.4% from 2018 to 2019. Most of the gains for women came from human resources, public relations and legal.
