Fostering Greater Flexibility Should Be Standard Protocol

Firms need to be open to giving their employees more freedom to work remotely as workplaces should not require workers to be tethered to a single location. So reports Forbes.

“While some companies are resisting these trends, many realize that more flexible work styles will be the new norm,” according to Steve Price, chief human resources officer for Dell. He expressed these sentiments in a recent column in Forbes. “We launched in 2009 a program that enables eligible team members to work remotely, at variable hours or in other flexible capacities that fulfill both their job and lifestyle needs. Team members have overwhelmingly told us that the flexibility in their work style helps them be successful.”

Among the benefits of adopting a flexible workplace policy are:

  • Happier and more productive workers
  • The ability to attract better talent
  • Being more green and using less resources

“Flexible work is the new norm in the workplace, and it’s not going away anytime soon,” he notes. “By providing your teams with flexible work options that encourage collaboration, optimize productivity and allow them to follow their preferred work style, your organization will boost its competitive edge and position itself to become an employer-of-choice for the world’s best talent.”
