HR professionals have a “very special responsibility” to ensure employers are strong proponents on worker healthcare, including accessibility to healthcare networks, how co-pays and fees are structured and sharing with employees about their health benefits, said Sean Sullivan, chief human resources officer at SHRM. "It's not enough to say, 'Hey, we've got great benefits,' " Sullivan said. "Helping people understand how to maximize those benefits and how to be the best [healthcare] consumers they can be really advances overall healthcare and wellness for all employees."
