Pandemic Elevates Need for HR to Focus On Mental Health

The COVID-19 pandemic has elevated the need for human resources to bolster its attention and response to employees’ mental health wellness. So reports Forbes.

COVID corona 4893276 640 small“In the past, we referred employees to resources to help improve their mental health, yet never really followed up with each to see whether they took advantage of them or benefitted from the experience,” said Marathon Health Chief People Officer Debby Routt, according to the article.

HR professionals need to be more proactive in addressing the mental health needs of its staff and following up with them, Routt added. “Acknowledging and normalizing these feelings as a genuine and authentic leader helps move the responsibility of HR from simply sharing the phone number for the employee assistance program to actually helping employees better navigate the organization and business differently," she said.
