Intimidated by Cloud Technology? If You Can't Stream It, Effort It

It's the talk around conference tables – or rather video--conference tables – water coolers and cubicles. "Save the data to the Cloud." "Not to worry, our server connects to the Cloud." "The Cloud will make your job so much easier and efficient." So reports The New York Times.  

Maybe, but what exactly is it, other than an app for iPhones or tablets? Cloud Technology is apparently the new Internet – so much so that a lot of business people think it is the Internet. What it amounts to is a whole new way of delivering and storing data.

All of us (HR professionals included) are going to have to learn about it sooner or later, so the Glossary and illustrations from the Times may come in handy. If nothing else, save them to the Cloud.
