Circle K Settles EEOC Discrimination Case with $8M Payout

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said it ended its investigation into Circle K Stores relating to disability, pregnancy and retaliation discrimination charges after the convenience store chain agreed to pay $8 million to impacted employees. 

EEOCThe EEOC investigation determined there was reasonable cause to believe Circle K denied to provide reasonable accommodations to pregnant and disabled workers. These workers were subject to involuntary unpaid leave and faced retaliation.

“We are pleased Circle K worked cooperatively with the EEOC to reach this conciliation agreement and, through our joint efforts, we have been able to bring about real change at Circle K without resorting to litigation,” EEOC Chair Charlotte A. Burrows said.
