Target Settles Age Discrimination Allegations

Target has agreed to pay $75,000 to settle allegations that the company discriminated against two older workers when it came to its hiring practices. So reports The HR Digest.

TargetTarget also agreed to start a training program to help its hiring managers know how to steer clear of discriminating based on age. The allegation was based on a job listing posted on social media in 2017 that sought “a young, energetic leader” to fill a store manager position and who was “passionate about technology.” The two union workers who sued Target were both over 40 and had filed a compliant with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

The EEOC found reasonable cause to believe that Target had discriminated against the two workers, with the company then settling without admitting it had done anything wrong.
