HR recruiters who treat a job candidate poorly may be subject to a public shaming on social media. And even for candidates who land a job, going through a bad recruitment process may leave the employer with a disgruntled employee. But, recruiters have their own share of frustrations.
Christy Hopkins, an HR consultant, calls out “the sheer lack of thank you notes” as one of her pet peeves. Constant pestering also is not recommended.
"I recently had a candidate call my personal cell phone no less than five times to ask for a status update 48 hours after interviewing," Hopkins says. Instead of calling back, Hopkins sent an email politely asking the candidate to stop calling and promised to reach out.
"So, did I treat the candidate poorly or was the candidate being overbearing?” she says. “I think in our world of immediate feedback, there is a fine line.”
