Companies Increasingly Using Personality Tests to Cut Bad Hires

By using pre-screening personality tests, many companies have been able to ensure job openings are being filled with candidates likely to stick around. So reports The Wall Street Journal.

However, some positions are taking longer to fill with qualified candidates. By using automated tools and software, employers have reduced the chances a new hire will quit or be fired, and the increasing popularity of those tools have driven down the costs of software associated with implementing the tests.

Further, the successful traits of existing employees are increasingly being used when screening new hires. The story notes that companies are relying more heavily on screening exams than in recent years and for some job seekers it has become a challenge to navigate the changing application landscape. Now, eight in ten private employers in the U.S. administer exams for at least some of their positions.
