Execs Struggle to Fill Openings: AICPA Survey

Despite softer hiring approaches, business executives are having a hard time finding qualified candidates, according to an American Institute of CPAs survey.

The quarterly survey shows that 43% of those asked say they see an increased level of competition for good employees compared to the end of last year. Meanwhile, 25% say the already difficult hiring environment is not letting up.

In contrast, only 12% of business executive say they had no difficulty hiring the right applicant, and a mere 4% say there has been an improvement in the hiring process. Further the “availability of skilled personnel” ranks as a top three concern for those surveyed. The survey included 1,440 respondents, comprised mostly of chief executives, chief financial officers, controllers and CPA’s is managerial roles.
