Not only is the HR staff electronically unable to communicate amongst themselves, they are unable to share information digitally with other city departments. Mary Talley, chief human capital officer and director of the city’s HR department, noted that being digitally handicapped has resulted in “manual processes that take an inordinate amount of time to complete based on the volume of information and projects that we are required to complete.”
Talley’s department is taking a number of actions that it hopes will make them electronically-able. “Our goal is, eventually and hopefully, being a paperless operation,” she said.
