Milah Blunt alleged that Republic Bank, including its human resources department, failed to address her complaints against branch manager, Michael Mikstas, for using racist language and for discrimination. Blunt, an African-American, alleged that Mikstas used “racist, derogatory, and insulting statements” that were at times directed towards her.
She alleged Mikstas had said “if it were not for us (white people) you’d still be chasing your food with a spear.” Blunt also alleged in her suit that she lost out on raises and promotions that went to white employees. The bank’s anti-harassment policy and the human resources department were ineffective, according to the suit.
The bank and Mikstas choose not to comment, but Mikstas noted that Blunt has “issues.”
