Lisa Alexander sued the city last month, claiming she endured sexual harassment from Behavioral Health Division executive Lancelot Deygoo and HHC supervisor Michael Maddox starting in 2016. Alexander filed complaints against Deygoo and Maddox with HHC, but neither faced discipline, her suit alleges.
When Alexander had a chance to leave HHC after receiving a job offer from Bellevue Hospital, HHC’s human resources director Nicole Constantine handed her a bad recommendation, and that offer was rescinded, the suit notes. Alexander finally quit January 6.
“My client was sexually harassed, groped and belittled for years by her direct supervisor,” Alexander’s lawyer John Scola said. “When she complained to the director of human resources, she was denied promotions and retaliated against by the person whose job it is to protect her, ultimately forcing her resignation.”
A city Law Department spokesman said that “we will respond to these allegations as we proceed in the litigation.”
