Erika Irish Brown, who had served as chief diversity officer for Goldman, will join Citigroup in upcoming months as its chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer and global head of talent. Brown is coming to Citibank as the bank has distinguished itself among rivals for being outspoken in wanting to create greater diversity among its workforce.
Citigroup is targeting filling worldwide roles spanning from assistant vice president to managing director with a minimum of 40% women and increasing its number of Black employees in the U.S. to 8% by the end of the year.
“We’ve made it a habit to set clear and attainable goals to measure our progress and hold us all accountable for diversity at Citi, and we’re just getting started,” Sara Wechter, Citigroup’s global head of human resources, noted in a recent memo.
