'Womenomics' Bringing Gender Parity to Japanese Workplace

Japan's economic headlines are typically about a nation struggling to emerge from two decades of "stagflation" after its stratospheric bubble burst at the end of the 1980s. So reports CNBC.

Like many Asian countries, Japan is not generally thought of as progressive regarding its female population – least of all in the business world. Now, however, with its population aging (and shrinking) rapidly, the Land of the Rising Sun, may have a new moniker as "the land of rising women" in the business world.

The movement to increase female participation in the Japanese labor force has been nicknamed "Womenomics," and the country's economic future may depend on it.
