What’s in Store for Workers in the Post-Hipster Generation?

Young Urban Creatives, focused on freedom in the workplace and maximizing individual talent, are an emerging group of millennials in the workforce. So reports Mashable.

The shorthand term “Yuccies,” as they are labeled, encapsulates their attitude and drive to succeed, albeit in an non traditional way, while also conjuring a slightly negative connotation due to some sense of entitlement. They are described as a cross between Yuppies and Hipsters.

A Deloitte study notes that 28% of millennials do not think their talents are being tapped in their current employment and another study shows two-thirds of millennials aspire to start their own business, indicating a desire to spread their wings. A premium on making a living utilizing their own ideas, rather than executing someone else’s, also defines the emerging subculture.
