Wooing Millennials with Massages

Traditional companies trying to woo millennials who are reluctant to sit in office cubicles are finding unique ways to attract this huge working-age cohort. So reports The Kansas City Star.

Accounting firm, Grant Thornton, touts free breast-milk delivery. New moms on business trips can pump and then have the milk shipped overnight to their babies in Kansas City.

Other benefits include unlimited days off and $100 reimbursements for employees who adopt rescue animals.

Job recruits "want employers to recognize all those important aspects of their lives and not just their life at work," says Jessica Robino, HR manager at Grant Thornton's downtown Kansas City location.

Many firms have crafted their benefits offerings to cater to what appeals to millennials beyond the workplace. Some of these include student loan assistance, free gym memberships, smartphone discounts, identify theft protection and allowing employees to participate in charity events with pay.

"There's a social aspect to the work environment that we think is important" to younger workers, says Julie Wilson, executive vice president and chief people officer at Cerner Corp.
