Ex-HR Manager for San Francisco Slapped with Forgery Charges

Prosecutors have charged a former human resources manager with two felony counts of forgery for allegedly falsifying documents. So reports KPIX 5.

prison 553836 640smallRebecca Sherman, who served as the Equal Employment Opportunity manager in the City of San Francisco’s Department of Human Resources, resigned in September of last year. Prosecutors allege that Sherman failed to investigate an EEO complaint that an employee filed against the city. Instead, Sherman repeatedly assured the employee that the city would settle the claim.

Prosecutors allege that in July 2020, Sherman produced a false settlement agreement between the employee and city, which included forging signatures of three city workers. “My office will not tolerate those who work in San Francisco’s government agencies defrauding the very people they are entrusted to serve,” District Attorney Chesa Boudin notes in a statement.

Prosecutors alleged that after Sherman quit, she acknowledged in an email to her superiors that she “drafted a document appearing to be a proposed settlement agreement” and handed it to the employee. Sherman’s arraignment was scheduled for July 15.
