Yale University Strikes $1.29M Settlement Over Employee Wellness Suit  

Yale University has settled a class-action lawsuit aimed at its employee wellness program for $1.29 million. So reports BenefitsPRO.

YaleSome of Yale’s employees also agreed to the settlement, which alleged that the university’s health expectations program ran afoul of federal statutes due to a requirement that its staff and their spouses take part in the program or pay a weekly opt-out fee.

“We designed the Health Expectations Program with our union partners and the advice of health care and legal experts,” said Stephanie Spangler, vice provost for health affairs and academic integrity. “Nevertheless, we feel it is best to resolve what would have been expensive litigation and move forward. Our relationship with our employees is an important priority.”
