Microaggressions Lead to Women Burning Out In the Workplace

For women in the workplace, constant microaggressions over time can often go unnoticed by co-workers and eventually lead to burnout. So reports Employee Benefit News.

perceptyxA recent study by employee analytics platform, Perceptyx, finds that microaggressions are a common burden that women endure in the workplace. While 66% of women say they face sexist behavior sometimes, a quarter describe experiencing three or four demeaning actions at work “frequently” or “always.”

“The more serious sexist incidents that really border on harassment, we have made a lot of progress on—people know how to report it and how to get it taken care of,” says Emily Killham, director of research and insights at Perceptyx. “But the biggest impact is the death by a thousand cuts, the microaggressions that add up to a very uncomfortable workplace without an obvious solution.”
