Worker Anger, Anxiety In Global Workplace Undermining Employers

The COVID-19 pandemic, rising inflation, and overall violence on a local and global scale have given workers many reasons to feel anxious and even angry, and some experts think this tension may signal a new normal. So reports Forbes.

angry 3233158 1920For the third consecutive year, rates of anger, anxiety and aggression have gone up, Jan Bruce writes for Forbes, citing Gallup’s 2022 workforce poll. That poll found that 44% of global workers experienced plenty of daily stress in the previous day.

Bruce, who is CEO and co-founder of meQuilibrium, a human capital management platform, notes that “these accelerating trends are now the new normal” and that it is up to business leaders to make mental health care a core component of how they recruit talent.

“Why? Because the cultural forces at play are impacting workers,” Bruce writes. “Incidents that seemed like distant, unlikely tragedies may now feel much more real—that is certainly true in my company. And that feeling is universal. We are all becoming just a couple of degrees of separation from these events and this will take a toll on business progress and opportunity.”
