Angela Santone’s approaching departure also comes as AT&T aims to wipe out thousands of jobs via an $8 billion cost-cutting plan. Santone came to AT&T in late 2019 and prior to that led the HR department at Turner, part of Time Warner.
During her time at AT&T, the company had eliminated many jobs, but for years stopped announcing these cuts and only released total employee numbers in its quarterly reports and filings. In July, AT&T announced that it was adding $2 billion on top of the $6 billion of targeted cost cuts over the next three years. The company has let go of 74,130 employees since the start of 2021, which amounted to 32% of it total workforce as of June 30.
