A Benefits Organization Reinventing the Wellness Wheel

Certain sectors of the workplace are known for providing a nurturing and attractive work environment. This trend came to the fore in the 1990s during the dot-com era. A number of Silicon Valley companies (e.g., Google, Microsoft, Apple) come immediately to mind, when start-ups were all the rage and the competition for the best available talent became fierce. After all, those were the companies that introduced us to "business casual" attire, which morphed into just casual after a time. On-site fitness centers, massage facilities, healthy meal choices and countless other amenities were among the perks offered at companies that were shaping the 21st-century economy.

Now (perhaps as a result of that legacy) we can add one of our own industry organizations to that category – and it may even reach beyond the standards of the West Coast. No, it's not located in Seattle or Portland, but smack in the middle of America's heartland.
