Konrad Joy, former chief operating officer in the London office's global risk department, is suing the bank for gender discrimination, reinstatement of his job and damages of more than 20 million pounds ($32 million dollars).Damages in U.K. employment cases normally don't exceed 70,000 pounds, unless plaintiffs can provide evidence of discrimination based on race, religion or gender.
Joy, who had spent nearly his entire career with Deutsche Bank, reportedly earned about one million pounds a year. He claims that the internal disciplinary panel's review of the harassment and bullying allegations that recommended his dismissal was itself discriminatory.
