HR Making Positive Impact Outside Work, In Community

The newest generation of workers is seeking to make a positive impact on the community, and some are even willing to sacrifice pay to work at companies aimed at doing right by society. So reports The Atlantic.

Human Resources departments are on the front lines of navigating a workforce that has a growing urge to be good corporate citizens. Nearly half of the Millennials surveyed in a recent Deloitte pool said the “purpose of business is to ‘improve society/protect the environment.’”

Further 83% of MBA students in another poll said they would be willing to take a 15% pay cut to work at job that will make a social or environmental impact.

To get the most productivity out of the youngest crop of workers, the article states, HR should limit red tape and foster creativity, allowing ingenuity to flourish. Also, working to combat bias will make for a workplace culture where everyone feels comfortable, ultimately improving the company and the community at large.
