Target Raising Minimum Wage to $13 Per Hour

Target Corp will lift its minimum wage from $12 to $13 an hour starting in June, amid a tight labor market, Reuters reports.

The mega retail chain, which had boosted hourly pay from $11 to $12 an hour March last year, said it is targeting a minimum hourly wage of $15 by the end of 2020. The wage boost comes as Target and its competitors find it tougher to hire workers and as they face pressures to give workers a fair, living wage. Walmart, which ranks as the biggest retail chain and U.S. private sector employer, pays $11 an hour for entry-level employees.
