Massachusetts’ City Workers Hit By Fraudulent Unemployment Claims

About 400 employees from a Massachusetts’s city were caught up in a scheme where their names and information were used for fraudulent unemployment claims. So reports Mass Live.

fraud 2695269 640smallThe city of Worcester is among several cities and towns in Massachusetts that have seen their workers subject to the same scam that has taken place during the Covid-19 pandemic, says Dori Vecchio, Worchester’s human resources director.

“We have looked through all of our systems to ensure that it’s not a breach on our end,” Vecchio said. “That was actually done back in April when it first happened, and it was done again in July when the next group came through and it was done again. We’re pretty confident that it was not a city of Worcester breach.”
