Medghyne Calonge was hired in her HR role in January 2019 and fired less than six months later in June for not meeting the job’s minimum requirements, an indictment and evidence at her trail shows.
Two of Calonge’s former colleagues said they saw her “repeatedly” hitting the delete key on her computer just before being led out of her office building. Calonge allegedly was then able to log back into the company’s computer system hours later and erase job applications and resumes, according to investigators, who also noted that more than 17,000 job applications and resumes were erased due to her actions.
Calonge’s former employer shelled out about $100,000 in its investigation and to rebuild its system, but despite this was not able to get back all the deleted data.
