HR Head Credits Continuous Feedback, Listening for Success

The senior vice president of a telehealth company says creating a culture that welcomes continuous feedback has enabled it to build trust among its fast-growing workforce. So reports Employee Benefit News.

Maven ClinicKarsten Vagner, senior vice president of people at Maven Clinic, uses a combination of company surveys and one-on-one discussions to learn what his employees value and then creates or enacts programs to address their concerns. Vagner had worked for less than one year in 2020 at Maven Clinic when he nearly increased the company’s staff to more than 190.

In one case, Vagner acted after hearing feedback from employees pertaining to issues brought out during last year’s Black Lives Matter movement. From that, he started an anti-racism campaign with a 12-month timeline that sought input from everyone on how the company could boost representation.

“If I've been given this life, I better make the best use of it,” Vagner said. “If somebody gave me a chance, I need to be in a position where I can give lots of chances to other folks.”
