Over the last five years, August 24 came out on top as the day that saw most American workers call their bosses to say they were too sick to come in. The most common reason, more than half the time, was a stomach illness with the majority of workers mentioning symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea. About 25% of sick calls on August 24 were blamed on the coronavirus.
February 13th came in second for workers calling in sick, with February also ranking as the sickest month of the year. October 25, December 15 and April 18 followed in third, fourth and fifth place, respectively.
