NFL Draft: Winning Lotto or Just a Lucrative First Job?

The recently completed NFL draft made a big splash at New York's Radio City Music Hall, much as it always does. But with a lively debate being played out in NCAA sports about college athletes being paid as employees, there was attention placed on what kind of careers most "lucky" emerging college stars can look forward to as pros. So reports the Huffington Post.

We're all familiar with the tabloid headlines about players who come into big money early getting into all matter of trouble off the gridiron. On top of those risks, pro football has gotten more demanding and punishing physically – unlike baseball and even other contact sports. One other major difference: the average NFL career is surprisingly short-lived, leading some observers to offer new draft picks some career advice.
